Project Brief and Description:
We were invited to negotiate the construction of The Ripple Retreat by It's Good 2 Give, a charity set up to provide practical support to children and families impacted by cancer.
Built on the southern shores of Loch Venachar, the retreat was designed to provide a safe and easily accessible natural and calming environment to all.
The structure comprised strip foundations, steel frame, block substructure, a fully supported floor slab, elevations of curtain wall glass with timber-clad infills, a curved roof formed from I-Joists finished in a structural ply and a standing seam zinc roof.
The building is sustainable by design and specification. Low carbon energy is produced through the use of an air source heat transfer system that will provide heating and hot water to the building in a sustainable manner. The design of this building see that the internal spaces are naturally ventilated and elimaniates the need for any additional cooling.
